FAMILY CELEBRATIONS
FAMILY CELEBRATIONS
Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and holidays are GREAT OPPORTUNITIES TO MAKE GREAT MEMORIES! Actually, ANY DAY is a great opportunity to celebrate someone!!!
What will our families remember years from now? Yes, the small daily, consistent ways we express our love for one another is huge, but so are the big- effort, once-in-a-lifetime celebrations!
THE EFFORT IT TAKES TO CREATE A MEANINGFUL MOMENT FOR OUR FAMILY IS ALWAYS WORTH IT!
Good news! Sometimes, it really isn’t that difficult to make the Wow Moments, if we think ahead or be spontaneous & creative!!
Let me encourage you to have fun with your kids, teach them to celebrate others, and be intentional about doing something special for the people who are a blessing to your family!!
The options are imitless: Hiding handwritten notes, leaving balloons on someone’s front door, baking cookies and decorating with words of love, drawing hearts and fun words on the sidewalk with chalk, even walking in with a post-it on your forehead with “I’m crazy about…”!
HAVE FUN & MAKE A MEMORY! Do it your style, your “flavor”, your way… but DO IT!! Life gets so routine and mundane so quickly! YOUR KIDS LIKE SURPRISES, so “wage war” on being an ever-predictable parent” Get out-of-the-box and have a meaningful day of expressing love and honoring others!
Kids love to ANTICIPATE THE BIG MOMENT! Now, with cell phones, we can “document” and share the good times!
Last week while we were filming some new Best Buddies segments, I declared it “We Love Lindsay Day!” She was helping with the kids recording and has been a part of our family and babysitting “brigade” for years! It felt so right to honor her and let her know how much we appreciated the way she served our family! I didn’t plN it… we were just all on the elevator together!!! Great place to make s memory…it’s a mindset.
KIDS LEARN BY DOING! Their thought patterns can be guided by intentional, aware parents who MODEL “OTHER-CENTEREDNESS”! Soon, they will have an endless stream of great ideas for honoring and celebrating others! Get ready!!
These moments are also great opportunities to “label” our children with adjectives that will be remembered for life!! I tried to Inentionally choose great descriptions of my children, whether they were being celebrated or doing the celebrating!
“Wow! YOU ARE THE FAMILY PARTY PLANNER (or the encourager, the celebrator, the entertainer, the organizer… so creative, great imagination, so kind, so brave, so dependable, so helpful! The list is endless… so HEAP ON THE GOOD STUFF!
It’s sad to read the studies telling us that most young children under five years of age feel great about themselves… but after a year in s hook or around other children, many are aware of things they want to change about themselves! WISE PARENTS REINFORCE THE GOOD ATTRIBUTES, ACTIONS & ATTITUDES!
It’s important to note: We have the power “to speak into existence” specific attributes that we see In our rchildren, OR WANT TO SEE!! Our words create their self-image and set goals for their direction and growth!
So, there it is! We can make everyday count! And when the really big days like birthdays & graduations come around, we will already be a FAMILY WHO KNOWS HOW TO CELEBRATE AND MAKE EVERYONE KNOW HOW SPECIAL THEY REALLY ARE!!
Good News: it doesn’t have to cost a lot to celebrate anyone! Just the “Circle of Honor”, where everyone tells what they love about someone or tells a good story about them, will make for a super-meaningful and memorable celebration!! WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR…
YOUR FAMILY IS ABOUT TO STEP INTO A NEW SEASON OF JOY AND LOVE! Have fun! ❤️
Never Give Up!
